Broken Hearts Still BeatingThe lightning-spliced sky illuminates my bedroom
and I'm crouched in the corner, embraced by the dark,
thinking of how there could have been a chance
for me to wake up next to you, your emerald eyes
webbed with emotion, your body limp
from jerking in your sleep. I imagine ruffled sheets,
broken lamps, and permeating heat.

I think of how we could have jogged together
along roadsides and doubled over with thorns
in our ribs at your feeble attempts to whistle Dixie.
I'm collapsing inward, reminiscing on the truths
I should have told you and how every boy I pass
has your face, your dark brown hair, your lips.
And I cry. Oh, do I cry.

I long for hope that burns inside of me
Because there are so many things that I've never seen
So many places that I've never been
So much beauty that has yet to begin

This hope I long for that burns inside of me
Is the means and reason for me to believe
In all the things I've known and everything I have
For things can never really be that bad.

This hope I have is what pushes me forward
Slightly northward and around the corner
Its what gets me by each and every day
Because you never know what tomorrow may convey

You never really know what the future holds
Some days are bronze while others are gold

MessEverywhere I go
Every single place
The troubles seem to grow
Every smiling face
Eventually frowns with woe

Why can't I do
Anything right
I just screw
Up everything despite
The happiness I try to spew

Is it me
Am I the source of this ache
Does the pain flow free
Is this what I make
People be?

Should I go away and hide
Never to see others
Or the outside
But would I stop another's
Pain and be the only one that ever cried

What is a life with no grey
When everyone is sad
I'd give it all away
It wouldn't be that bad
I would finally be able to say

I saved a life
The Christmas TimeChristmas time now comes again
A time for mirth, a time for friends
A festive joy floats on the wind
And happiness abounds

Christmas time brings gifts and fun
Brings hope and joy for everyone
With families forming up as one
And good times all around

Christmas time is warmth and joy
Is merry times for girls and boys
Both young and old enjoy new toys
And merry carols sound

But when I chance a look to see
The truth behind a Christmas Eve
A different tide has come to be
Beset on common ground

For shopping takes up family time
The price tags on all presents climb
And happiness is hard to find
When stress can make one frown

When was Christmas
Better Left Unsaid.You'll be a lawyer-
I'll be a writer. 
You'll probably make more money but-
At least we'll both be doing things we love.
And we'll live on a farm,
Just like you always wanted and...
I want to marry you-
I can't imagine myself with anyone else.
But you don't know that. 
We'd both laugh if I told you. 
So it's better left unsaid. 
I can see us staying up late...
Watching kiddie movies and eating chocolate ice cream. 
And having candle lit dates on our bedroom floor-
Taco Bell, of course. 
And on winter evenings, we'll curl up on the couch...
With hot chocolate...
As I read aloud to you-
From a book of my choice, of course. 
But you don't know this...
You'd think I was weird if I told you.
So it's better left unsaid. 
And one day we'll pick out a huge chair.
A chair for cuddling.
And when I'm sad-
You'll hold me in our chair...
And we'll both stay real quiet,
Taking each other in.
And eventually we'll start to talk-
Quiet murmurs at first...

 I can scarcely remember,
a time when you and I,
 would play together.
Now,
 when I really think,
all I remember is,
 your house,
which was once a special place.
 Now,
I don't even remember your face.

You always said I was "Daddy's Little Girl".

 But what does that mean?
I'm not a girl anymore.
 But what does that mean?
I'm not little anymore.
 But what does that mean?
You're not my daddy anymore.
 Never really were.

You sometimes said I was "Daddy's Little Girl".

BolideIf the world ends tomorrow--
My dad will sit out in a lawn chair
the freezing Minnesota air,
chainsmoking and smirking.
And you, maybe if you wanted,
we'd stand at the top of the Indian mounds
like we did on the Fourth of July years ago
and watch meteors firework across the sky.
There will be no mini doughnut stand this time,
no children laughing at the bright flashes,
but also no repentance.
If the world ends tomorrow,
you don't need to apologize for anything.
Hearts are fragile things
and it's not like this world
hasn't been struck by a meteor before.
Murderous MelodyMelody, won't you show yourself unto me?
Take me unto yourself and remedy my envy?
May I implore you to conduct and to orchestrate
My lust to kill, all of my dislike and my hate?

Teach me to use my music to cease a life
Symphonies to end the stress and the strife
Discords to break and measures of silence
Cacophonies to kill without need of violence.

Let them behold my hands conducting the nightmare
Using harmonics to threaten their welfare
I break the waves with a rising crescendo
Only to crouch again into diminuendo.

My accolade, it synthesizes with ceasing existence
Alto and tenor, both louder than their repentance

The GriffinWith wings soft as down
And beak fixed in a permanent frown,
The Griffin soars in open sky,
Reveling in his talent to fly!
But be not deceived by his fearsome face,
For it is as noble, powerful and endowed with grace
As it is ferocious and wild, impossible to tame.

His eyes sparkle red and gold,
And his coat is truly a sight to behold;
Smooth and sleek, it glows amber in the setting sun's light
And under the moon it shimmers silver and white.
His ruff rises like hackles at the slightest threat
And his tufted ears prick, for though not one to fret,
He'll not relax until he knows the danger has passed.

Tall, strong and majestic he
Catching Stars.I caught a star
and put it in my pocket
to keep it safe..

I took it home
and placed it on a shelf
in a cold dark place..

I kept it a secret
no one knew
what I was hiding..

You needed a friend
but I had nothing to offer
so I gave the star to you..

Your face lit up
I could feel the warmth
you almost felt complete..

But you let go
and the star went home
leaving you breathless
and almost knocked you off your feet..

The sky burns
the star shines bright
and I quietly watched
as you found yourself
somewhere deep within the night.
TruthShe has a writers hands,
Quill-pricked fingers and palms
Stained with ink - she leaves
Traces of her soul on everything
She touches.

Her antebellum eyes betray the
Scars scattered on her ribcage - they
Can't cover all the fingerprints
Time has left there, stark and
Unyielding under moonlight tainted
By fluorescents.

[She's a used canvas,
But she'll never let that stop
Her from being her own brand
Of truth.]
Winter BluesA blanket fallen from the clouds
Covers the land as snow falls down,
So white, white as a wedding gown,
White, white as the burial shrouds.

The firs wear coats made of snow,
The solemn silence like mist soars
To mountain tops from valley floors,
Silence of graves does follow.

Lonely cart tracks slowly fade,
Now they only lead to nowhere,
Their origin is no longer there,
Soon they are but a white shade

A blanket fallen from the sky
Covers the peaceful land below
With the innocently white snow
Comes the cold that lets us die.
Passionate SovereigntyI'm so tired of writing love stories;
when I've not had one of my own.
I'm so weary of pretending I'm beautiful;
when my looks could turn a man to stone.

I'm so fatigued waiting for my prince;
when I'm not even a princess.
I'm so sick of pretending to be a siren;
when I could barely pass for an enchantress.

I'll tear down this repulsive prison of a
castle
they call the mind,
brick by hideous brick;
and write my own fairytale at last.

All I really want for Christmas
As I peer down on homes from above
Is to let the ones I know
Especially the ones I love

That I want them to be happy
And grateful with their friends
Enjoy time with their families
And for enemies to make amends

I want to see everyone gather around tables
And let others know how much they are treasured
I want their messages to come from the heart
I want to see everyone pleasured

I want to see children open their gifts
As their parents and siblings smile and gaze
I want to see loved ones kissed
And let it snow for days and days

I want others to have what I never had
On Christmas no
Are you feeling okay?You wanna know how sad I am?!!

I'm so sad that the back of my eyes burn

Oh God...why do I have to be so mad? So fucking insane?
If only my head had been screwed on a little better....
Then maybe I could control something, ANYTHING

But look at me: I'm a fucking mess
A shivering, teary-eyed, snot-covered mess

A pitiful, shuddering waste of flesh

Suicidal? I don't think so.
I mean, I don't want to die
But then again...

I don't want to live either

I swear...the next person who says:
"I know how you feel"
Is gonna get their throat slit

Because they don't know how it feels
To be so far gone
That you can't even love yourself anymore

this is such a cool poem. i once tried to find a word that could sum up someone very dear to me, and nothing could, so i decided i'd just create my own word to describe him. i ended up forgetting the word but not the feeling which inspired it.
so i guess i could say, i really relate to this poem.

a request? certainly!
okay, i always imagine an empty table with many chairs around it, not tucked in neatly - as if everyone has just left the table, and one man is sitting at the table, eagerly awaiting the presence of someone, but that person never shows up, never realises that this person loves them deeply and is waiting for them.

so if you could write something about this, make a theme around it, that would be cool.
is that the sort of request you're looking for? i can give you a different one if you like?
